Week 1 – Welcome to Spring at Tots of Fun

The sunshine has finally started making an appearance, so we've been making the most of it! This week the children enjoyed a spring nature hunt, looking for flowers, birds and interesting leaves. We talked about the different colours we could spot and counted how many daisies we found along the way.

Back indoors, we created beautiful blossom tree paintings using cotton buds. The children loved exploring different painting techniques while strengthening their fine motor skills.

It has been a wonderful week full of curiosity, fresh air and lots of smiles!

Week 2 – Little Gardeners

This week our little gardeners rolled up their sleeves and planted sunflower and cress seeds.

The children learned what plants need to grow and have taken responsibility for watering them each day. Watching them eagerly check for new shoots has been lovely to see.

We also enjoyed messy sensory play using soil, compost, toy insects and gardening tools.

Week 3 – Rainy Day Adventures

The weather may have been wet, but that didn't stop the fun!

We built indoor obstacle courses using cushions, tunnels and stepping stones to develop balance and coordination.

Our science activity involved making colourful rain clouds in jars using shaving foam and food colouring, helping introduce simple weather concepts in a fun and engaging way.

Week 4 – Farmyard Fun

This week was all about farm animals.

The children explored different animal sounds, sorted animals into groups and created fluffy sheep using cotton wool.

We also visited a local farm where everyone enjoyed meeting goats, sheep and chickens. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about where some of our food comes from.

Week 5 – Minibeast Explorers

Our garden became an exciting place to investigate this week.

Armed with magnifying glasses, the children searched for worms, snails, spiders and ladybirds.

Back inside we made colourful butterfly crafts and read lots of stories about bugs and insects.

Week 6 – Colours Everywhere

This week we focused on recognising colours through lots of hands-on play.

The children enjoyed colour sorting games, rainbow rice sensory trays and creating giant collaborative rainbow artwork.

Outside we even went on a colour hunt around the local park.

Week 7 – Water Play Wonders

As the weather warmed up, water play became the activity of the week.

Children experimented with pouring, filling and floating objects while naturally developing mathematical language such as full, empty, heavy and light.

We finished the week with homemade bubble wands and lots of giant bubbles in the garden.

Week 8 – Healthy Bodies

This week we talked about looking after ourselves.

The children helped prepare healthy fruit kebabs and smoothies while learning about different fruits and where they grow.

We also enjoyed yoga sessions and dancing games to encourage movement and wellbeing.

Week 9 – Dinosaur Discovery

Roars echoed around Tots of Fun this week!
The children became palaeontologists, digging dinosaurs from sand and making fossil prints using salt dough.

We counted dinosaur footprints, measured their sizes and learned the names of some favourite dinosaurs.

Week 10 – Under the Sea

Our learning took us beneath the waves this week.

We explored sea creatures through sensory trays, created jellyfish crafts and listened to ocean sounds.

A treasure hunt outside kept everyone busy searching for hidden shells and pirate coins.

Week 11 – Sports Week

Active play was our focus this week.

The children practised running, jumping, balancing and throwing during our mini sports day.

Everyone received a certificate celebrating their effort, determination and teamwork.

Week 12 – Bugs and Butterflies

Our caterpillar observation kit has been fascinating.

The children have watched tiny caterpillars grow and begin transforming, sparking lots of conversations about life cycles.

We also enjoyed butterfly symmetry painting and outdoor bug hunts.

Week 13 – Music Makers

This week was wonderfully noisy!

The children made their own musical instruments from recycled materials before creating a marching band around the garden.

We explored rhythm, fast and slow beats and danced to songs from around the world.

Week 14 – Teddy Bears' Picnic

Our favourite cuddly friends joined us this week.

After making sandwiches and decorating biscuits, we enjoyed a picnic in the park.

The children practised sharing, taking turns and using their manners while enjoying stories in the sunshine.

Week 15 – Construction Zone

Little builders have been hard at work.

Using blocks, magnetic tiles and recycled boxes, the children designed towers, bridges and houses.

We talked about shapes, sizes and problem-solving while encouraging teamwork.

Week 16 – Summer Celebration

What an amazing few months we've had!

This week we reflected on everything we've learned by creating memory books filled with photographs, artwork and favourite moments.

We finished with garden games, bubbles, dancing and a special picnic to celebrate all the friendships, confidence and new skills that have grown at Tots of Fun.

Thank you to all our wonderful families for being part of the adventure. We can't wait to see what next month brings!
